The mine opened in 1882 and operated for almost a century, employing close to 200 people at its peak, some as young as eight. Start off with a guided tour of the surface structure before donning your helmet and lamp to descend into the former silver mine to listen to fascinating stories of hardship and try your hand at some old mining techniques.
